Last week in my Taekwondo class, the sensei said something that blew my mind.
In my Taekwondo class, all students have been working on the concept of respect.
“I will be polite and respectful to all”, we all repeated after the sensei.
And then he said something that blew my mind.
For others to respect you, you need to respect yourself first.
Eat good food.
Drink lots of water.
Move your body daily.
Give your mind nourishing thoughts.
Watch what you are consuming on the internet.
It is so true.
Before others can respect us, we need to respect ourselves.
And yet, I see it over and over again with job seekers.
Especially, highly qualified, high-achieving women.
The way they talk to themselves.
The way they undermine their experience.
The way they tell themselves, who am I to apply.
The way they tell themselves that they don’t stand a chance.
We talk to ourselves the way we dare never talk to others.
If we ever dream of building a joyful career and life, we have to stop belittling ourselves.
We have to respect ourselves first.
Respect yourself first if you want others to respect you. This mindset shift is crucial, especially for high-achieving women who often undermine their worth. If you’re ready to stop self-doubt and build the career and life you deserve, apply for THE FEARLESS HIRE. Let’s create a plan that starts with self-respect and leads to your dream career!
