If they need a Data Scientist with 5 years of experience in eCommerce, guess what they will search:

Data Scientist + 5 years of experience + eCommerce

So, if all you talk about is your experience with building Financial products, chances are you will not show up in search results.

For one of my clients, before we updated her profile, she was showing up in search results for “Engineer” and “PhD”.

She is neither a PhD nor is looking for Engineer jobs. But she did work with Engineers and PhDs before in her role as a Data Scientist.

We updated her LinkedIn profile to incorporate the right keywords she wants to be found for. Within a week, she started showing up for search results for Data Scientist and Sr. Data Scientist roles.

LinkedIn is the most powerful tool for job seekers. But if you give it stale ingredients, you cannot expect a Michelin star dish.
