3 LinkedIn Secrets to 8X Your Profile Visibility and Attract Recruiters

Done right, you can 8X your profile visibility overnight and start attracting recruiter calls directly to your inbox.

1. LOCATION PREFERENCE

Problem: With more and more companies reinstating the return-to-work mandate, your location preference can completely take you out of the search results for recruiters who are looking to hire people out of big cities or tech hubs.

Solution: Choose 5 locations in your Open to Work settings. One location can be your hometown, choose the rest 4 to be the four big Tech hubs where most of your target jobs originate from. Even if you cannot relocate, it is better to get on the call with the recruiter and negotiate that than to not have the call at all.

2. COMMENTING ON YOUR FEED

Problem: Most people spend several minutes, if not several hours scrolling LinkedIn every day, passively liking random posts here or there. But liking posts is a very low ROI activity and does absolutely nothing for your profile visibility.

Solution: Search the job title you are interested in, filter by “Posts”. Your feed is going to show you posts that are in your zone of genius. Then, for only 10 minutes every day, comment on four posts. That’s it! A comment is anything eight words or more.

3. LINKEDIN ANALYTICS

Problem: Most people have absolutely zero clue why they are not getting reached out by recruiters on LinkedIn or what they should change on their profile. So they default to the belief that “LinkedIn doesn’t work for me."

Solution: Use LinkedIn analytics to understand the effectiveness of your LinkedIn profile and what exactly you need to tweak to push your profile higher in search results. Three metrics you must track weekly are “Number of search results,” “Keyword you were found for”, and “Top title of searchers.”
