Failed your last interview because you rambled too much?
Here are my top 3 strategies to stop rambling and be more confident in your next interview:

Take a top-down approach to your storytelling by giving a 10-second summary of why this experience is worth sharing.
For example: I would like to share an example of the time when I was a senior manager of strategy at ABC Corp. where I created the product expansion strategy for the Asia region, leading to a $50M revenue growth.
Leverage the rule of 3 to give structure to your story and to immediately curb rambling. Organize the actions in 3 buckets, 3 steps, or 3 phases.
For example: To create this market expansion strategy, I approached it in 3 steps: market research, data validation and stakeholder buy-in.
A neat trick to use when you catch yourself rambling is to stop and drink some water from a bottle. Keep a bottle that has a narrow screw cap near you. As soon as you feel your throat drying up from too much rambling, stop, slowly unscrew the cap, drink a sip or two, and then start again.
It will help you calm your nerves and jump back into the interview with more clarity and confidence.
